In an era of digital manipulation, trust is the most valuable commodity in accreditation. At the International Standards & Accreditation Board (ISAB), we do not rely on visual inspection alone to secure our certificates. We utilize advanced cryptographic principles to ensure that every document bearing our name is authentic, verifiable, and tamper-evident.

1. The Digital Fingerprint: SHA-256 Hashing

Every certificate issued by ISAB is secured using a SHA-256 Cryptographic Hash at the exact moment of creation.

Think of this hash as a “Digital Fingerprint.” Our system processes the certificate’s core data—including the organization’s name, registration code, issue date, and expiry date—through a complex mathematical algorithm. This creates a unique string of characters that is mathematically linked to that specific data.

  • Why this matters: If an unauthorized person attempts to alter even a single letter, number, or pixel on a digital copy of a certificate, the mathematical hash will change completely. When a buyer verifies that document via our portal, our system immediately detects the “hash mismatch” and alerts the verifier that the document has been tampered with.

2. Immutable Audit Ledger

Transparency is our guarantee. ISAB maintains an Immutable Audit Ledger for every certificate in our database.

Because our registry is cryptographically locked, any change to a certificate’s status—such as a suspension, withdrawal, or routine surveillance audit—is logged in the ledger with a permanent timestamp. This ledger serves as the single source of truth for all stakeholders, preventing entities from hiding their compliance history or presenting outdated information.

3. Cryptographic Signatures (PKCS7 & HMAC)

For high-risk industries, we provide an additional layer of security: Digital Signatures.

Certain high-value certificates are signed using advanced HMAC-SHA384 protocols. This signature acts as an official “Board Seal.” It proves two things:

  1. Authenticity: The document was created by the ISAB compliance system and no one else.
  2. Integrity: The document has remained unchanged since the digital signature was applied.

4. How to Verify Authenticity

We make it easy for global procurement teams to verify the integrity of their supply chain. If you are in possession of an ISAB certificate:

Report Discrepancies: Our platform includes a whistleblower “Fraud Reporting Engine.” If you ever suspect a document is fake or has been tampered with, you can file an urgent report directly to our security administration through the certificate’s verification portal.

Scan the QR Code: Every physical certificate includes a unique, encrypted QR code. Scanning it will redirect you to the live, secure ledger record for that specific entity.

Check the Hash: On the verification page, locate the “Cryptographic Audit Artifacts” section. Compare the Ledger Hash (SHA-256) displayed on your digital screen with the hash printed on the certificate. If they match perfectly, the document is 100% authentic.
