ISAB Accreditation Process
At ISAB, we follow a rigorous, internationally harmonized accreditation process governed by ISO/IEC 17011. This cycle ensures that every Certification Body we accredit operates with the highest level of technical competence, impartiality, and integrity. We do not offer “rubber stamp” approvals; instead, we conduct a thorough, evidence-based investigation into your management systems. Our goal is to ensure that your certifications deliver genuine confidence to governments, procurers, and consumers worldwide. Declaration of Impartiality and Objectivity. Trust in the accreditation process relies entirely on independent judgment. At ISAB, our top management is steadfastly committed to impartiality. We document and enforce strict public policies to manage any potential conflicts of interest and guarantee the absolute objectivity of our accreditation activities. Every staff member, technical assessor, and committee member who could influence the accreditation process is required to act objectively. They must remain completely free from any undue commercial, financial, or external pressures that could compromise the integrity of their evaluations.
The Accreditation LifecycleOur process is built on the standard ISO 3-year certification cycle, designed to continuously monitor and elevate the performance of Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs). The lifecycle consists of four main phases:
Step 1: Application & Document Review
The Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) submits its application, detailing the specific scopes for which they seek accreditation (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001). Our assessors conduct an off-site review of the CAB's Quality Manual and procedures to ensure strict alignment with ISO/IEC 17021 (for management systems) or other relevant conformity standards.
Step 2: Office & Witness Assessments
Rather than a standard factory audit, ISAB conducts a two-part assessment. First, an Office Assessment verifies the CAB’s internal management and certification processes at their headquarters. Second, a Witness Assessment is conducted, where an ISAB assessor observes the CAB's auditors in the field to ensure they are evaluating clients competently and objectively.
Step 3: Accreditation Decision
Once the assessments are complete and any non-conformities are addressed, the file is presented to our Independent Accreditation Committee. This committee ensures the evaluation was rigorous and impartial. The ISAB Board holds the final authority on granting official Accreditation status.
Step 4: The Surveillance Cycle
Accreditation is an ongoing commitment. To maintain their accredited status, the CAB undergoes annual surveillance assessments. This includes ongoing witness assessments and file reviews to guarantee continuous compliance, impartiality, and auditor competence.
Step 5: Reaccreditation
At the conclusion of the accreditation cycle, ISAB performs a comprehensive reassessment of the CAB's entire operational framework. Upon successful demonstration of sustained compliance with international criteria, a new cycle of accreditation is awarded.
